Clio Update: O2 Sensor

A few weeks back, I bought an O2 sensor for the Clio from eBay. https://ebay.us/ES6O0V The idea was that I was going to fit this myself, but it’s bloody impossible to get to without a garage lift. Anyway, the bloody warning light came back on yesterday, so I got my tame garage to install the… Read More Clio Update: O2 Sensor

Some details on the sunroof handle fix..

See also : Sunroof sorted. Hopefully. I realised I’d missed an opportunity yesterday: I should have taken photos of the job. Bugger. In my defence, it was 29 degrees out there, and I had 2 hours max window anyway. Anyway, here are a couple of non-obvious points I discovered: 1. The handle won’t come off… Read More Some details on the sunroof handle fix..

Sunroof sorted. Hopefully.

Bought a replacement sunroof Handle and catch from eBay. Sounded like a simple job, but the old one was broken, and wouldn’t release. Had to take the old handle apart (including the two screws some bodger installed to lock the handle down..) took about an hour (in 29C heat). Just need to sort out the… Read More Sunroof sorted. Clio issues update

The Clio has been back to the car dealers twice now, and they have so far failed to sort out the “warming up” bad running issue. It goes like this: starts up, runs fine, about 1/2 mile later it splutters and loses power. Rev it a bit and it sorts itself out. I’m thinking it’s… Read More Clio issues update

The importance of having the right kit.

The importance of having the right kit.

That OBD2 reader I bought recently has already paid for itself! First, my 05 Megane developed a couple of serious faults, ie the steering rack and the water pump. (This is after all the hassle with the battery) The water pump issue caused overheating issues and a lot of error codes and the engine warning… Read More The importance of having the right kit.

The Clio is turning into a project..

Remember I bought a Clio to (temporarily) replace the dead Mégane? Well, it’s turning into a bit of a project.. although it hasn’t actually let me down (yet), it’s not running properly. It’s developed some kind of misfire, resulting in some embarrassing moment at junctions and roundabouts.. I’ve had to reset the error codes to… Read More The Clio is turning into a project..

Bye Bye Megane

Bye Bye Megane

The dead Mégane goes tomorrow. It’s getting picked up by CarTakeBack.com .. they offered me £125 more than the local breakers. Give them a try. Or one of the other national, online services. I picked up a 2003 Clio to replace it for now..

Complaining pays!

I mentioned that I’d been left stranded by the AA for 3 hours in the pouring rain, and that sent out a 3rd party recovery truck?

Well, I put in an official complaint, got an apology and £25. The AA will still be crap though. But at least I k…

ABS issues sorted for £20

A local garage “mended” the corroded ABS sensor mount. Cost £20. Thanks, Sol! If I’d gone with the original solution, it would have meant (another) unnecessary front wheel bearing replacement. Last time, that cost over £120.. Yes, it’ll probably break again as it corrodes further, but that won’t be my problem Unfortunately, I picked a… Read More ABS issues sorted for £20
