I had a couple of MK3 Capris back in the Eighties.
The first was a red 1.6L – bought it from a Scottish bloke for £650 – have you seen what they go for now?
I broke (and locked) the back axle on a busy roundabout in the rushhour in a thunderstorm! Had to put a lorry jack under it and tow it off. Got the axle replaced but the brakes then failed at 80mph.. Not recommended.
The second was a 1.6S with alloys and a fancy exhaust manifold (which broke). The gearlever came off in my hand on the way home, leaving it stuck in second for 15 miles. The alloys wouldn’t come off as they had corroded on.. Eventually “traded” both cars for a Fiesta MK1.. sadly..
I quite fancy another one.. but 2 grand puts me off.
