A2 Remote Central locking fixed.
I have finally fixed the non-working remote locking on the Petrol A2..
The solution was to swap the CCCU module.
This lives in a compartment under the passenger floor, and controls the locking, windows and doors. So I may have fixed the dodgy driver’s door window as well. Not checked that yet.

I bought my replacement unit from an online seller I had dealt with previously, and included two remote keyfobs from the same scrapped car. This is important as there is no way to pair the keys with CCCU units yourself.
The replacement CCCU was actually exactly the same model as the old one (ending in “Q”), but years younger. The “Q” ones are the ones to avoid, as they are notorious for failing.
Swapping the unit was relatively straightforward, requiring no tools, it’s held on place by plastic clips, and the plugs just pull out after you squeeze the tabs.
Next, I needed to resync the keys, which is just a matter of switching on the ignition using the original key, and pressing unlock/lock on the new fobs.
Final job was to swap the key blade/immobiliser sections from the old keys to the new. Sorted!
The new cccu didn’t have “honk mode” or anti-hijack mode enabled. I’m going to enable honk mode, but anti-hijack mode is a pain anyway.
